Overall though, I feel the good outweighs the bad, and I do enjoy sticking this story on...

Doctor Who - The Green Death (1997)
If you're a fan of Jo you may get a annoyed with how her exit was handled, still, lots to enjoy, including some more silly scenes for the Third Doctor, which is a rare treat.

Earth invasion, UNIT, The Master, soldiers being killed in weird ways by slow moving, vaguely humanoid creatures... It's a Third Doctor greatest hits!

This is how you reboot a show and change its direction while still keeping everyone happy. It's a proper master class, and as you'd imagine, comes highly recommended by me!

A fun story, but it falls somewhere in the middle of the scale for me. It's good, just not great. Still recommended, though.

The Tenth Planet is a good, albeit basic, Doctor Who serial, raised above averageness by virtue of being so significant.

The original episode does a great job of getting across what is a crazy plot by today's standards, let alone back in 63. The remaining three episodes are rather dull sadly.

Total Recall (1990)
You get the action, the cheese, and some good sci-fi and practical effects. What's not to love?

They Live (1988)
They Live is a good laugh, I certainly enjoyed my time with it, but the sudden tonal shift and some poor acting does hurt it in the long run.

Soylent Green (1973)
It's a hard one to judge, and while I enjoyed watching it, I don't see myself watching it again...I guess an average score then, but I am glad I finally watched it.

Fantastic Voyage (1966)
Ignoring the painfully slow first third, the rest of the film is an enjoyable, basic sci-fi adventure. It won't wow you, but it will entertain you.

Forbidden Planet (1956)
No wonder so many sci-fi writers have cited it as an inspiration, I can see how this film would spark a lot of imagination back then, or even now. Great stuff.

Man-Made Monster (1941)
It was fun but far to generic to warrant a re-watch, and due to this, it gets a three, but I'd recommend you give it a watch if you have an hour and nothing else to do...

Island of Lost Souls (1933)
The lead character is sadly generic as hell, but thankfully everything that goes on around him is interesting and well shot. Highly recommended.

Metropolis (1927)
I appreciate what it accomplished for the time and how influential it is. It's a classic, but one that maybe doesn't hold up to modern viewing...

Captain America: Civil War (2016)
With one plothole that doesn't really derail the film, it's hard not to just applaud it for being able to juggle so much and still make it a satisfying watch. Top stuff.

It still has its wacky off-beat humour, but this time the last third came with an emotional punch, and made you like them all a lot more as they grew closer.

Thor: Ragnarok (2017)
I was never not entertained and it's constantly funny, it's just a shame that the jokey atmosphere managed to make its way into the more dramatic and poignant scenes.

Black Panther (2018)
It's weird and brilliant to say that a Black Panther film is properly a good film, able to stand on its own and add to the overall Marvel Cinematic Universe. Top marks.

Prometheus is a hard one to judge, despite what people had been telling me for years, it's actually not that bad... nor is it that great either. Average it is then!

Alien (1979)
An real classic, that rare case of top cast, top script, top directing, top set and practice effects, everything. In terms of tense sci-fi horrors, it's hard to top Alien.

Bungo Stray Dogs: Dead Apple (2018)
An extremely predictable plot and layout, but it offers what it should: characters you like from the series duking it out with higher quality animation.

A View to a Kill (1985)
A good Bond film, filled with plenty of action and set pieces, with a great opening theme to boot! A solid note to go out on for Moore, even if he isn't a highlight himself...

The Man with the Golden Gun (1974)
Had so much wasted potential. Scaramanga was a great villain, both written and played, but everything else surrounding him in the movie is... well... bad.

Live and Let Die (1973)
Far from the worse offender in Roger Moore's outings as Bond. A boring boat chase and a slapstick final fate for our villain definitely takes it down a peg or two though...

Diamonds Are Forever (1971)

Falls in the middle of the scale, it's not the worse, it's not the best, it's just a mix of both, just with a Bond who is often not very interesting to watch on screen...

Still plenty of fun to be had, so long as you ignore the ... old fashioned aspects of the film, and have a sense of humour about it.

Thunderball (1965)
Not a classic like Goldfinger, but it's still fun. It'll be a long time until I watch it again, mind you. It doesn't have the rewatchable charm as some of the other Bond films

Goldfinger is a classic, no doubt. It does have some flaws in the third quarter of the film, but it pulls it back to become a fun, relaxing watch.

From Russia With Love (1964)
It has a few sillier moments, but in general it's quite the tense cold war spy film, with some good foreshadowing and a few really good action set pieces.

Dr. No (1962)
Brilliant lead actor and villain hold the film together, despite a few flaws. The fact that it got so much right from the start is a real testament to the film series.

Definitely more good than bad, the opening and the big Luke-Vader-Emperor showdown are great, it just has some weaker elements that drag the overall experience down.
